Report

Weather : dry and sunny
Attitude of team : Positive

For all those who where there I am sure you will agree the game was exciting. We seemed to be in control in the 1st period. Our passing play was superb. Dan, Caolan and Alex kept the opposition mesmerised with their dazzling passing display. We took the lead from an attack down the left hand side. A great cross from Caolan into the box helped Oliver (1st goal this season not bad for a defender) pounce on the ball and score in the left corner. The steady defence of Cody (you know if you run into Cody not many players get back up quickly!), Finlay (Central defender suited Finlay and he was able to command the back) and Oliver (always communicating and running back and forth) kept the shot on goal to a minimum and if there was a shot Patrick commanded the back very well, especially with his long kicks to help the attack.

The 2nd period was crucial for us to take another goal. We brought on Adam (the dazzler who keeps defenders guessing) up front and Able (Able to play anywhere and can kick with both feet) at left back, strong replacements. Although, it was Altrincham who struck first, when we lost possession up front allowing them to get the ball up front. Slack defending allowed 2 of their players through and Patrick on his own was always going to be under pressure. We fought back and players were confident to take the ball up and passing from Adam, Alex and Caolan helped get us in front of goal for Caolan to slot home the goal. Again we seemed to lose formation and allowed Altrincham in behind us for a good finish.

We had a fight on our hands in the 3rd period. We were the better team but lapses in concentration allowed them in again to score. We created more chances but could not finish but their goalie made some outstanding saves to keep the ball out. What is very encouraging is our passing skills seem better than a lot of teams, plus, we are scoring goals. We still need to stay positive, keep concentration and be strong in the tackle. Man of the Match went to Caolan and Most Improved went to Finlay.

We have slipped to 8th position with the recent loss. Top 3 finish is unrealistic but Paul and I certainly think we can finish in the top half if we concentrate and look where the opposition is.
